Here's an abstract about shrinking film production in this Pacific Rim city. A link to the full article which appeared in the SF Examiner follows.
SAN FRANCISCO - San Franciscos declining film industry has resulted in hefty losses over the last six years more than $123 million in local spending, more than $8 million in local and state tax dollars and nearly 2,000 jobs, according to a report released by the San Francisco Film Commission.
City officials have blamed San Franciscos decline of the film industry which peaked in 1999 mainly on the enormous financial incentives other states and foreign cities have created to lure film productions. Industry insiders continuously point to the increasing costs associated with filming in San Francisco.
The cost of doing business is clearly the biggest shortcoming and The Citys greatest weakness, said the report, authored by consulting firm ICF International.
