tsar, the thought of the boy fighting and being bullied because of his circumstances saddens me everytime I think about the movie. Took the chance to rewatch it this weekend and yes, ZX was in the movie and it was brillaint that she did not even have a line. She looked so young, the intended heavy and lousy y2k'ish makeup was quite a comedy relief. The movie does have a few flaws, particularly when boy returned to the depot but turned away from the gang that was waiting to bully him. It should take less than a minute to notify his manager and staff. That and a few aside, an important classic of everyday tragedy that goes unnoticed in a deep sea of them (bikes, as metaphor), differences of rual and urban lives and class and prejudice buried in the population that created them.
