Or Ah sa as most hong kong people call her.

I was just coming back from a bar on hollywood road to the red minibuses south of lan kwai fong, at about 3am, when our way was obstructed by a bunch of guys holding a wooden bar across the walkway.

It was at the concrete garden area between Pottinger Ave and Lan Kwai Fong, and there were an absolute stack of spot lights aimed at this one girl. Some guy yelled "action", she pulled off some uber cheesy dance moves, and then there was something else in cantonese and all the people standing around cheered and appluaded. I'm guessing it was "its a wrap" And they let us walk down the walkway.

As I went by I looked at the actress and didn't recognize her, but fortunately my hk friends recognized her as Charlene Choi and lo it was. Unfortunately my camera phone is shite at night, and there were a stack of people and I didn't feel like humiliating myself ( and Ah sa just isn't Ah Gil, or Gillian Chung as she's also called ), so you'll have to take my word for it.

Anyway my observations:

There were a stack of people on set. I thought hong kong films were like real low budget, few people, quickly made movies, and while two out of three might not be bad, I was amazed how many people were just hanging around. It was like how I imagined a hollywood movie would be.

Ah Sa had pancake make up on. She looked like a pasty vampire with red cheeks. I think thats why I didn't recognize her at first. I never realised how much they have to overdo the makeup even these days when making films.

I always figured the Twins cutey cutey act was just an act, and in person they'd be real divas, but after the take she was beaming and looked pretty happy and personable. Or maybe it had taken a million takes and she was happy she'd done it. I dunno.
