"Most people's visualization of real historical events are completely based on movie depictions -- not research or scholarly works."

The only effect Saving Private Ryan has done on me was the music of Edith Piaf.

Commercial filmmakers and film studios do not bear the responsibilities of creating substitutes for history textbooks. They create movies. But they do bear the responsibilities of being morally correct or neutral. It is not a Jay Leno show where you can say whatever you like to say. The movies they create are going to reach the mass audience who believe what they see, many of them in foreign countries have received very little or no previous education of those events. There is a responsibility in there.
