Lurker alert!

Hey is "Suzhou Creek" "Suzhou he" the same movie we're talking about?

Zhou Xun is one of the finest actresses alive. Nuff said.

About the names: the mainland actors seem to be more confident in their identities and take the national pride more seriously. The westernization of Hong Kong actors' names was probably one of the end results of colonization, which later turned into a west-worshiping parade that many actors began to westernize themselves. Many of the names the actors adapted in the late 80s and early 90s made no sense to their identities but did raise their popularity in the industry, a good example is the "Four Heavenly Kings" whose names were easy to call and remember.

Some of them were easy to remember because they were ridiculous or/and cheesy. Jackie? Jacky? Not one but two Tony Leungs?? Heck, even the master Johnnie To's "Johnnie" gave me a good laugh sometimes. Poor little Johnnie.....

I'm sure, with the huge population of the mainland market to attract, more Hong Kong actors will be more careful with their names that should reflect their identities as a Chinese actor, and that do not identify them as those who are colonized by western cultures or foolishly dream to get recognized at the Oscar.
