From my observations, Julian Lee as a person is incredibly self-indulgent. I overheard him speaking to his students a couple of times, and it's been pretty consistent all throughout.

Not my kind of teacher. Neither is he my kind of filmmaker either. He's very set in his ways.

Ah yes, a favorite term of mine as well. Intellectual masturbation indeed.

I can see this film being good for a drinking game. <img...

When I saw it a whiles back I thought I was sitting through the Writer/Director's personal nightmare. If not that, then his own intellectual/emotional masturbation. What a silly exercise in self-indulgence.

Lee probably just tried to work every sin, taboo and horror film cliche into his story in a obvious and lame attempt to shock his audience. It may have shocked some straight-laced Chinese folks but most audiences are probably too sophisticated to simply accept all his...

Eh. Again. I will have to agree as well with Eliza, and all other posts that followed -- while some people might think this is brilliant post-modern avant-garde work, I just thought quite a lot of the film came off as strained and trying too hard.

The very first scene of the film by itself, already felt increasingly disconnected to me. It just didn't seem to work. It was also incredibly reminiscent of Tsai Ming-Liang's opening scene for "The Hole", which belonged in the film,...

I have not seen The Accident but Night Corridor certainly did not agree with me.
The cinematography and the acting (of everyone other than Daniel Wu) are very self aware and in a film like that it really hurts. A similar film to this would be Yonfan's Color Blossoms, it looks good but you go "huh?" while you are trying not to laugh at some of the things that are happening on the screen.

Of course this type of film works excellently if you manage to "click" (for...

hey,

maybe I should finally check out Night Corridor as I was a big fan of The Accident, despite a few flaws along the way. Ben Ng really lifted that movie to great heights and indeed, it was far from his rapist lunatics in Category III movies. Shame there's very little from Ng the actor subsequently.
So Good... - Hong Kong DVD Movie Reviews

Saw this yeaterday on VCD and yes EVERYONE needs to watch this film.

Many of you will not like it, and that is in fact the point. An uncompromising screenplay which isn't actually trying to entertain, but rather make the audience 'feel'.

If like me you just sat through Tricky Brains, God of Gamblers 2 & 3 as well as Fight back to School; and feel that your brains are about to start leaking from your ears, Night Corridor will actually require you to think again!
