Hi I'm windaddy and I'm new to this forum and have just received a couple of HK DVD boxsets i imported from hong kong and one of them being the Police Story Trilogy by Fortune Star and i was suprised by how the fights lacked intensity were slower than i remeber in PS 1 & 2 slower than the other version i have seen the only version of PS1 i have seen was the new line vhs and as for the ps2 i have a dvdrip on my computer on hand which was ripped from a HKL dvd but i changed the...

Typical picture quality of VCDs?

I stuck a movie in VCD format into my computer and it's extremely fuzzy at high resolutions, and is only crisp when the window is squeezed pretty small, around what i estimate to be about 400x320 pixels. (which is really small)

So is it just my player*, or maybe a poorly made VCD for this particular movie, or is this to be expected with VCDs? This is the first VCD i've bought so sorry if this is a question with a "duh"...

I was wondering if anyone else has had a problem with the Clear DVD cases (Amaray) that Shaw Brothers and Cathay Movies come in. Most of my Cathay DVDs that are purchased from Yesasia.com have a rough clear to white film developing on them. It may be that the disks Panorama used are of inferior quality, but I question the type of Plastic used for Clear DVD cases. Hey fellows, I guess I don't have to mention here that I'm a big fan of the HK movie scene. I recently also have been converted to Blu-Ray (bows with Respek). There haven't been too many HK movies released on blu-ray, have there? I have pre-ordered CJ7, have Kung Fu Hustle, will soon receive House Of Fury,.. but of course there are a lot more titles that I would like to watch in high definition. I've totally been out of the loop of HK cinema recently because I really haven't had the budget to drop 20 dollars + shipping on every DVD that looks interesting but may or may not ultimately hold my interest. I could go for VCD versions, but the quality really is mediocre, and the money still builds up over time. So I'm wondering... is there an option to rent HK movies?

The HK version of Flash Point claims to be region 3, however I have read this is a misprint.

In fact it is all regions. Does anyone know if that is true?

I bought a copy of Princess D (director's cut) from yesasia a year ago. On its official yesasia page, it said both "director's cut" and "dts".
